Professor Kanako Seki received the COSPAR William Nordberg Medal at the 45th COSPAR Scientific Assembly in 2024. In addition, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) named asteroid #20063 “KanakoSeki” in honor of the award.

Reason for the award: “Her numerous significant contributions to our understanding of ion loss from rocky planet magnetospheres.”
