Meteorite is a time capcule(This sentence is a general guidance about meteorites for nonprofessional Japanese people.) 隕石は、太陽系に起源を持つ小さな天体の破片で、地球に衝突し、地表でその破片が回収された物体です。隕石の多くは、火星と木星の間に位置する小惑星帯から飛んできたといわれています。 一見、何の変哲も無い岩石に見える隕石ですが、地球外の宇宙に関するほぼ唯一の物質的証拠であるため、非常に重要なものなのです。隕石を丹念に観察すると、中には太陽系外起源の粒子をみつけることもできます。また、太陽系が生まれたころの痕跡をみつけることもできます。 わたしたちは隕石の化学組成や同位対比組成の分析をおこない、太陽系の素材はどこからやって来たか、太陽系形成初期はどのような状態だったか、そこからどのような進化をしてきたのかを研究しています。 |
